Your Dedicated Bag Former Solutions
The most common forming shoulders
Quad Seal Bag Former
Uniquely designed, this former creates four distinct corner seals during the bag-making process, rather than the traditional single back seal. This requires highly precise forming tube design and additional sealing mechanisms. The outcome is a Quad Seal Bag, a remarkably square and stable package with a generous fill volume, making it ideal for high-end product presentation. Its common name is Quad Seal Former.
Pillow Bag Former
This is the most common and fundamental type of former. It features a typically round forming tube where the film overlaps at the back for a single vertical seal. It creates a Pillow Bag (also known as a Pillow Pouch), characterized by its flat sides and seals at the top and bottom, resembling a pillow. Often referred to simply as a Standard Former, it's the workhorse for a wide range of products.
Gusset Bag Former
Beyond the basic forming tube, this former incorporates internal or external structures (like "gusset fingers") designed to fold the film inward at the bag's sides or bottom. The result is a Gusset Bag (or Gusseted Bag), which, once filled, becomes more three-dimensional. These bags offer improved standability and stackability. You'll hear it called a Gusset Former, or more specifically, a Side Gusset Former or Bottom Gusset Former.
Forming Set
The Forming Set is the precision-engineered assembly on your VFFS machine that transforms flat film into perfectly shaped bags, ensuring consistent quality and maximizing production efficiency. Comprising the forming shoulder and forming tube, it’s the indispensable tooling that defines your pouch’s final look and enables versatile bag styles
Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS) machines are indispensable in modern packaging, known for their efficiency and versatility. At the heart of these machines lies a critical component: the bag former, also known as the forming set. This precisely engineered part is responsible for transforming a flat roll of film into a three-dimensional pouch, ready for filling and sealing. The type of bag former used directly dictates the style and integrity of the final package, making its selection and understanding crucial for any packaging operation. From the everyday pillow bag to complex, stand-up pouches, the bag former is the unsung hero, shaping products for the market.
